N M R Studies of Coal
Davenport, Sally Jane (1985)
Carbon-13 CP/MAS NMR was used to study a selection of fifty-seven New Zealand coals and ten Australian coals. The coal rank varied from lignite to semianthracite. A qualitative survey of the plant origins of NMR signals was followed by an EPR study of the unpaired spin-species in coal. The quantitative reliability of the NMR response of coal was analysed in relaxation and "visibility"...

N-way microwave power divider using two-dimensional meta-materials
Eccleston, K.W. (2006)
An N-way power divider based upon meta-materials is presented. The divider essentially comprises a two-dimensional mosaic of both right-handed and lefthanded four-port unit cells. The power divider is square shaped and this allows ease of integration with amplifiers. The feasibility of the proposed divided is demonstrated by the simulation of a 20-way divider operating at 1 GHz [Journal Article]

Nabokov’s humor: the play of consciousness
Brillinger, Matthew (2003)
Vladimir Nabokov' s fiction, particularly in its later stages, is thoroughly and multifariously humorous, with individual works incorporating large numbers of jokes to tremendous effect, to the point that enjoyment of Nabokov 's art is to some extent indistinguishable from engagement with his humor. Why is Nabokov 's art so robustly funny? Humor theorists, in varied words and... [Thesis or Dissertation]

Narrative identity: Ricoeur and early childhood education
Farquhar, Sandy (2008)
The thesis argues that who we are, what we aspire to, and how we enact social and cultural practices are a result of the way we narrate stories about ourselves as both individuals and members of communities. The question ‘Who am I?’ is frequently answered with reference to what is important to us: our commitments and what we determine as good, valuable and right. Our identity is thus... Narratives of otherness: Masculinity and identity in contemporary Spanish literature for children and adolescents
Davies, Faye Margarita (1998)
Whole document restricted at the request of the author, but available by individual request, use the feedback form to request access. While members of any group of men may appear to be ordinary gendered examples of humanity, behind their physical similarities lie many socio-political and familial differences; thus it is only by knowing such men as individuals that their identities are revealed. Such is the aim of this thesis: to discover the 'real man' behind the statistics about sex-roles and the predominance of... [Thesis or Dissertation]

Narratwist: Alteration in meaning in a short film text
El-Noor, Mardo (2008)
This project is a creative production that combines image, sound, and narrative. It uses these elements to employ a twist as a device for a paradigm and genre shift in a short film text. My short film introduces a plot that is seemingly linear. Yet, the twist presents a piece of information that reveals the actual non-linear nature of the story, which in turn necessitate the re-interpretation... [Thesis or Dissertation]

Native grain refinement of magnesium alloys
Cao, Peng; Qian, Ma; StJohn, David H. (2005)
High purity Mg–Al type alloys have a naturally fine grain size compared to commercial purity alloys with the same basic composition. This is referred to as native grain refinement. It is shown that native grain refinement occurs only in magnesium alloys containing aluminium. The mechanism is attributed to the Al4C3 particles existing in these alloys. [Journal Article]
